NBA Free Agency 2020: Milwaukee Bucks spared no effort to make Giannis Antetokounmpo stay, will it be enough?

NBA Free Agency 2020: The Milwaukee Bucks have been under great pressure ever since their star player Giannis Antetokuonmpo stated his uncertainty about his future with them. The 25-year-old is one of the best players in the current NBA generation.

Having been adjudged the “Most Valuable Player” for two consecutive years, he sits right next to the likes of Tim Duncan, Karl Malone, and Stephen Curry.

However, he still longs for an NBA title and has expressed his unhappiness with his team’s incompetency.

In an interview given to an exclusive Swedish outlet, Giannis said “I do not know what the plan is. It depends on what decisions they (Bucks) make. If they make the right decision, I’ll be there for many years. If they do not, we’ll see. The NBA is business and we take it day by day. Hopefully, we can succeed together,”

He also added “I want to be a winner. I do not care about money. My family is fine and I can take care of my children and grandchildren so that’s not the most important thing right now, it’s winning. As long as we can win and create a winning culture, it will be good.”

This has raised many questions about his relationship with the team and the most pressing one is “Will he stay or leave?”

NBA Free Agency 2020: What has Milwaukee Bucks done to make their star player stay?

Although Giannis Antetokuonmpo has not made any trade request this season, he has demanded the Bucks to build a team around him so they can win the NBA Championship together. And maybe the team management has finally listened to him.

According to ESPN, The Bucks manager Jon Horst told the reporters on a conference call “We continue to focus on taking big swings, making the appropriate moves.”

The Bucks’ owners ensured roster improvements to Antetokounmpo in a meeting after their five-game playoff exit to Miami. They have signed two new players in Jrue Holiday and Bogdan Bogdanovic.

How will Jrue Holiday and Bogdan Bogdanovic improve the Bucks’ roster?

Jrue Holiday has a prominence around the league as being one of the best defenders and a two-way guard. He averaged 19.1 points and 6.7 assists last season.

Bogdanovic, 28, is a talented attacking wing. He converts a high volume of 3-point shots and is an effective playmaker. Last season, he attempted nine 3s per 36 minutes last season for the Kings and shot 37.2% from deep.

The same number jumps to 40.7% on catch-and-shoot 3-pointers. He averaged 15.1 points, 3.4 assists, and 3.4 rebounds in 29 minutes per game last season.

Now that Giannis has a playmaker who can cut through lanes to create passes inside the paint, he can do what he does the best. Giannis’ ability to run inside the paint and finish with contact is unmatchable.

With players like Jrue Holiday and Bogdan Bogdanovic who can attract players to them by inviting a double team, it will be even easier for Giannis to run into the paint, invite contact for fouls, and even finish.

The Bucks starting 5 for the 2020-21 NBA season look pretty good:

Bogdan Bogdanovic (SG)

Khris Middleton (SF)
