NED vs SCO ODI Series: The Netherlands will host Scotland in a two-match ODI series starting on May 19, Wednesday. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this ODI series will be played in a bio-secure bubble at the Hazelaarweg Stadium in Rotterdam behind closed doors with no spectators allowed in the stadium.
Scotland hasn’t played any international series since December 2019 Cricket World Cup League Two action in UAE. This will be their first international outing after an almost 17 months gap. They haven’t had many opportunities for quality training sessions over the last few months due to the pandemic and it will be interesting to watch how they approach the two ODIs.
The hosts, Netherlands last played an ODI series back in June 2019 against Zimbabwe. The Dutch defeated Zimbabwe in both games by seven and three wickets respectively and sealed the series. However, their recent international outing was in a T20I Tri-Series in April against Nepal and Malaysia. The Dutch managed to make it to the finals before Nepal registered a massive win over them.
Here, we will learn about five players who can really turn out to be the game-changers in this upcoming ODI series but before that let’s take a look at the head-to-head battle between both sides.
Both teams have faced each other in nine ODIs so far with Scotland having an edge over the Dutch side. Scotland has turned out victorious in six games, the Netherlands has won two games while one encounter got abandoned due to rain.
Looking at the past records, Scotland seems to be the favorites but the 17 months gap from the international cricket might work in the favor of the hosts.
