Nidahas Trophy final keeps Rishtey Cineplex, DSport atop BARC charts - InsideSport

The Nidahas Trophy T20 triangular series final between India and Bangladesh has enabled Rishtey Cineplex and DSport hold their respective top positions in the Hindi movie and sports genre television viewership ratings.

The Hindi broadcast of the T20 triangular series final on Rishtey Cineplex is watched by more people than the Salman Khan starrer Tiger Zinda Hai (13,704,00 impressions) world television premier on Sony Max. The cricket broadcast on Saturday last has aggregated 21,953,000 impressions, which played a crucial role in enabling the channel to top the movie genre ratings with 616,269,000 impressions.

The Kent RO Howzzat mid-innings (10,957,000 impressions) and post-match (6,684,000 impressions) shows on the day of the final, won for India by Dinesh Karthik with his last-ball six, on the Rishtey Cineplex, have been the number three and four programmes respectively for the Hindi movie genre on the Broadcast Audience Research Council data for Week 12 (Saturday, March 17-Friday, March 23).

DSport, capitalising on the live broadcast of the Nidahas Trophy final, has stayed the No. 1 sports genre channel with 150,878,000 impressions, followed by free to air Star Sports First, which is a distant second with 99,687,000 impressions. DD Sports (90,067,000), again on the strength of Nidahas Trophy live broadcast, Sony Ten 1 (72,255,000) and Star Sports 1 Hindi (37,217,000) have been the other top five channels in that order.

On the top five sports genre shows’ list, the final on DSport with the live final telecast is at the No. 1 position with 12,700,000 impressions. This is followed by live broadcast on DD Sports (9,509,000 impressions), Mid innings show Kent Mineral RO Howzzat on DSport (6,853,000), post-match Kent Mineral RO Howzzat on DSport (6,853,000), Fourth Umpire on the mid-innings show on DD Sports (4,462,000).

Interestingly enough, all the top 15 sports shows across various channels and genres happen to be on the exciting final, won by India with Hindi news channel Aajtak occupying the 15th position for its show – 8 Ka Chamatkar. The channel has four cricket shows in the top 20 table.

With no more live cricket to show, Rishtey Cineplex and DSport face their litmus test as Star Sport on the strength of pre-Indian Premier League programming will press hard to bounce back atop the sports genre rating charts.
