Nike is celebrating the legacy of Roger Federer through a pop-up shop and a gallery. Nike teamed with renowned boutique retailer Kith for a RF19 Pop-Up store from Aug. 23 through Aug. 27, a first-ever curated spot to celebrate the style of Federer.
The space, according to Nike, celebrates Federer through the lens of New York sneaker culture.
Ahead of the U.S. Open, New York starts to think all things tennis. “It’s an amazing time in the city. We relish the excitement of the tournament and fashion week, and we all feel the energy of how those two moments come together,” says Helen Kim, Nike’s VP and GM of Nike NYC. “We are committed to engaging in and sharing the creative spirit of the city through retail and pop-up experiences.”
Apart from recognizing Federer’s greatness through the gallery, fans of both the tennis great and sneaker culture will be able to buy items from the new NikeCourt collection. The drop features the coveted the Nike Zoom Vapor Air Jordan 3, which retails for $200, offering the classic Federer on-court sneaker silhouette with the style of Jordan in red and black, the Jordan Jumpman logo and the famed elephant print.
“It’s highly unusual to have a tennis shoe that’s got leather on it, because you would think it’s not so breathable, but they did it in the ’80s and in the ’90s, and they definitely could do it today with all sorts of materials,” Federer said at the launch event. “It’s a really comfortable shoe, and I’m super-excited about it.”
The five-day Federer pop-up at 644 Broadway in Manhattan includes the third iteration in the collaboration along with Federer’s latest NikeCourt Collection.
