North East United Football Club is playing Indian Super League Season 4 without a title sponsor. At least three ISL teams are supporting their own group company brands as title sponsors. Delhi Dynamos and FC Pune City, who meet for their first game of the season on Wednesday, have closed title sponsorship deals just in time to have a logo on their jersey fronts.
Even as a formal announcement is not made yet, Delhi Dynamos FC in a last-minute deal has got Kent RO as the brand to be on their front jerseys as the title sponsor. “We have got Kent RO for the front jersey as our lead sponsors,” the club’s marketing head Priyansh Pandey confirmed to insidesport.co.
DD’s opponents in their season opener on Wednesday, Pune City FC too have inked a late title sponsorship deal with Suzuki Motors India Private Limited. Pune City FC jerseys will have the Suzuki Gixxer logo up on the front of the playing and practice kit jerseys as the lead sponsor.
“We have not yet closed our lead sponsors,” North East United’s Rahul Sen Gupta confirmed to insidesport.co. “However, we have got several interests and talks are on.” The Taiwanese mobile handset brand HTC had discontinued its association with the club, co-owned by Indian film actor John Abraham, after being the lead sponsor for three successive years.
Bengaluru FC, Jamshedpur FC and FC Goa are bearing the logos of their respective team owners’ own group companies or subsidiaries on the front of their respective team jerseys. Bengaluru FC jersey front has JSW group logo; The Jamshedpur FC team owners Tata, have retained all their premier sponsorship inventory. FC Goa’s title sponsorship brand Deltin Hotels is owned by the club management.
Elsewhere, it is Muthoot Finance for Kerala Blasters; CESC limited for the Kolkata-based ATK; Ace Group for Mumbai City FC and Apollo Tyres for Chennaiyin FC.
