Chinese video game company Tencent Games have today announced the PUBG MOBILE Campus Championship 2018 in India slated from 26th September to 21st October 2018. Popular Chinese smartphone brand Oppo has come on board as the official sponsor of the tournament.

Tipped to be one of the biggest esports spectacle in India, the tournament is set to attract youth from more than 1000 colleges from 30+ cities across the country with a ₹50 lakhs ($70,000) total prize money purse sponsored by Oppo. The smartphone brand is also the official sponsor of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian cricket team.

PUBG Mobile, developed by Tencent Games and PUBG Corp., is based on popular battle-royale genre video game PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds that was originally launched for PC and Xbox One. Up to 100 players parachute onto a remote island to do battle in a winner-takes-all showdown. Players must locate and scavenge their own weapons, vehicles and supplies, and defeat every player in a visually and tactically rich battleground that forces players into a shrinking play zone.

Squads of 4 from any campus in India can participate and compete. Four knockout rounds including the semi-finals will shortlist the final 20 teams to compete for the ultimate trophy at the grand finals to be held in Bangalore. Registrations will be open via the official website www.pubgmobile.in from 7th September 2018 till 23rd September 2018

The championship will be streamed across social media platforms to enable eSports enthusiasts across the country to view and follow the championship.

  1. Got pissed with PUBG mobile on it’s first released but after 3 months with my friend suggested, I re-downloaded the game and so far, I’m enjoying it for 2 weeks now since I’ve downloaded the game. 🙂
