Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy has reached an understanding with the French National Badminton Academy for a player training exchange programme. The PPBA trainees as part of the programme will train and the French National Training Centres, whereas the French BA players will be visiting the PPBA at Bengaluru to hone their skills.
The PPBA in the first batch had sent four of its promising trainees to France for a ten-day training schedule. Lakshya Sen, the former junior world No. 1, and Rahul Bhardwaj have had an opportunity to train with the senior national French team at Voiron. The youngsters polished their skills under the tutelage of French national badminton coach Peter Gade, a former All-England champion.
Juniors Kiran George and Meiraba Luwang, have undergone training with the junior team at Bordeaux. The Manipur boy Luwang has been a consistent performer on the junior national circuit.
The PPBA will continue with the exchange programme. The French academy trainees are expected to visit the PPBA at Bengaluru shortly, where former Indian international and an ex Indian national chief coach U Vimal Kumar, the co-founder and director, heads the elite coaches panel at the academy.
