Manish Pandey and Lokesh Rahul stole the limelight in Round 3 of the Indian Premier League 2018 auction. Surprisingly, there were no buyers for Indian opener Murali Vijay, Hashim Amla and New Zealand veteran Martin Guptill.
Kings XI Punjab opened their purse string to get Karun Nair as Delhi Devils right to match the ₹5.6 crore bid for the batsman who had a base price of mere ₹50 lakh. Rahul went to the Punjab camp for ₹11 crore. KXIP also bagged David Miller for ₹3 crore and Australian hard-hitting opener Aaron Finch (₹6.2 crore). KXIP also was aggressively involved in the bid for Manish Pandey. The Delhi batsman in multiple interests was bagged by Sunrisers Hyderabad for ₹11 crore. KKR declined to match the bid, while KXIP opted out of the battle to capture the player after going up to ₹10.50 crore.
Kiwi veteran Brandon McCullum too was acquired by the KXIP for ₹3.6 crore and the Daredevils got Jason Roy for his base price of ₹1.5 crore and KKR made the best bid for Chris Lynn at ₹9.6 crore.
