The Premier Badminton League Season 6 auction is scheduled for November 26, Tuesday, in New Delhi. Four days before all the franchisees get together to build their respective squads, only five teams are so fare confirmed to join the auction process.
Delhi Dashers and Ahmedabad Smash Masters have already opted out of the league that featured eight teams in its previous season. While the league organizers Sportz Live & Entertainment were trying to rope in a new franchisee for Ahmedabad, North Eastern Warriors too so far have not confirmed their participation in the auction. Uncertainty looms large over their participation in the upcoming season of the league.
It is learnt the top Badminton Association of India management is trying to persuade the team owners, Eastern Warriors Private Limited. But the team’s owners have so far been reluctant to commit for the PBL Season 5, scheduled to start from January 20.
InsideSport.co has sent a text message to the SportzLiv founder and managing director Atul Pande. He did not respond.
Pande had earlier confirmed to Insidesport.co that the Delhi and the Ahmedabad franchisees have opted out of the league, and added that the league organisers were engaged in talks to find a replacement for the city of Ahmedabad. Pandey had confirmed a six or seven team PBL team this season.
Amidst prevailing uncertainty about the North Eastern Warriors and no confirmation of a replacement for the Ahmedabad team, it remains to be seen which will be the sixth team for the PBL Season 6.
