PCB initiates damages suit against IMG-Reliance

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has initiated a damages suit against the IMG-Reliance for breach of the Pakistan Super League production agreement. The claim has reportedly been filed at the London Court of Arbitration.

According to Pakistan daily The Dawn, the PCB had earlier sent a notice to IMG Reliance for providing compensation on account of the damages as the company had pulled out of the contract on October 21.

IMG-Reliance had reportedly not responded to the notice.

The PCB and the IMG Reliance had reportedly agreed to a $36 million deal in January this year for broadcast production of the Pakistan Super League. IMG Reliance had covered seven matches of the 2019 edition of PSL before pulling out of the contract on February 14.

The withdrawal was influenced by the acceleration in the tension between India and Pakistan after 44 CRPF personnel were killed in a terrorist attack on the convoy in the Pulwama district of Kashmir.
