PKL 2021: From Rohit Gulia to Pravesh Bhainswal, Top 6 probable retentions for Gujarat Fortunegiants ahead of PKL auction – The 2017 and 2018 finalist Gujarat Fortunegiants will be gearing up for Pro Kabaddi League 2021 (PKL 2021) season. The first task in their hands will be the PKL auction where they will be looking to retain their core team from the last two years. Rohit Gulia will be leading the side once again with the support of veteran defender Pravesh Bhainswal. From their debut season, Gujarat Fortunegiants have been consistent performers. Their coach Manpreet Singh will look to retain their top performers from the last season.

Gujarat Fortune Giants finished 9th in the table with 51 points, and while some fans might argue that this season was a letdown as Sachin Tanwar didn’t show his prowess, and Sunil & Parvesh failed to shoulder the responsibility; this season was more about the learning.

Before going into the auction, the PKL teams are also expected to exercise their choice of retention of PKL Season 7 squads as per the league policies. For each PKL Season, teams are allowed to retain up to six players under the Elite Retained Players category and up to six New Young Players (NYPs) under stipulated conditions.

Rohit Gulia

Rohit Gulia’s first taste of leadership came when he was named captain for Gujarat Fortunegiants midway through Season 7. Gulia recorded his first 100-point campaign in Season 7 for Gujarat Fortunegiants. His 142-point performance in Season 7 was the second-highest in the league among all-rounders. Rohit will surely be retained by the Gujarat team mangement. 

Abolfazl Maghsodloumahali

Abolfazl Maghsodloumahali will add the Iranian flavour to the Gujarat team. He is one of the best foreign players in the PKL. Maghsodloumahali’s tally of 97 points in 19 games was the second-best among foreign players in Season 5. His 91 raid points also placed him second on the list of most raid points by a foreign player in Season 5.With 26 raid points in ‘Do-Or-Die’ situations in Season 5, he showcased his composure in crunch situations. Captain Rohit will want Abolfazl to be his supporting raider in PKL.

More GB

Gujarat’s More GB has emerged as one of the best 2nd raiders in PKL. He has played 47 matches in which he scored points 193 points in PKL. He has not out the percentage of 73.28 %. In total, he has 153 raid points to his name. Manpreet Singh will want More GB in Gujarat’s squad for PKL 2021. 

Sachin Tanwar

Sachin Tanwar made his debut in Season 5 with Gujarat Fortune Giants and won the Best Debutant award. Sachin made his debut for the Indian team at the 2017 Asian Kabaddi Championship. In his debut season for Gujarat Fortunegiants (Season 5), Sachin scored 159 raid points and was the 10th most successful raider. In Season 5, His seven Super 10s put his name seventh in the list of raiders with the most Super 10s in the season.

Parvesh Bhainswal

Parvesh Bhainswal plays at the left cover position. He made his debut in season 4 with Jaipur Pink Panthers and shifted to Gujarat Fortunegiants in season 5. He was the second leading tackle point scorer in season 6. Pravesh Bhainswal’s tally of four Super Tackles in Season 5 was the most by a Gujarat Fortunegiants player. Among players aged 20 or lesser, Bhainswal had the fourth most tackle points in Season 5. He is the key behind Gujarat’s solid defence in the last few seasons. 

Gurvinder Singh

Veteran raider Gurvinder Singh has blown hot and cold in the past few seasons. His last best performance came in season five. In PKL he has so far played 45 matches with 100 points under his belt. He can be retained by Gujarat ahead of PKL 2021.
