Playstaion Studios to set foot in the Domain of Mobile Gaming. Sony Interactive Entertainment, owner of Playstation Studios is reportedly looking for a candidate based in San Mateo or Los Angeles to “own & develop the mobile games strategy for PlayStation Studios.” Further information reveals that the company is looking forward to adapt its famous franchises to mobile platform.
The job description shared by the company reads “You will be responsible for building and scaling a team of mobile leaders and will serve as the Head of this new business unit within PlayStation Studios. As Head of Mobile, you will own and develop the mobile games strategy for PlayStation Studios and help build a foundation for future growth opportunities.” Apart from this the job also requires “a focus on successfully adapting PlayStation’s most popular franchises for mobile.”
As a possible outcome, it is very likely that we will be able to witness mobile iterations of the platforms’ most popular games such as The Last of Us & Uncharted. However, don’t get too excited as the job description also reads that a roadmap needs to be developed within a timeframe of 3 to 5 years. Like all good things, there’s a long wait ahead before we get to see the AAA titles on mobile.
With the ever-growing multi-billion dollar industry of mobile gaming within the grasp, Sony is confident enough that it can compete with the likes of PUBG Mobile, Garena Free Fire, & Pokemon GO. Previously, we have seen mobile adaptions of big PC titles like COD Mobile achieving one of the biggest openings in the history of mobile gaming. Companies such as Activision were right to bring the experience to the mobile platform & make it available to everyone for free. However, it is still very early to comment on anything about the pricing of mobile adaptions of PS4 games.
