The directive via a tweet has been issued following viewers’ complaints that since the operators have blocked DD Sports, they cannot watch the World Cup matches.
The public broadcaster is running dual streams for the ICC World Cup 2019. The first stream telecasts the matches only on DD Free Dish and DD’s terrestrial network while the second stream carries a live studio-based programme for the entire duration of all matches.
“With this dual stream an instruction will be issued to all private DTH and cable MSO platforms to not blank out @ddsportschannel on days when live matches are telecast under the mandatory sharing of sports signals act,” Prasar Bharati CEO Shashi Sekhar Vempati had said earlier.
Vempati had also tweeted, “No private DTH or Cable Operator shall block lock @ddsportschannel. Please share screenshots of anyone doing so.”
