Premier League: Jerome Boateng linked with a “Dream Move” to Manchester United – Jerome Boateng has been a free agent after leaving German Giants Bayern Munich following the termination of his contract at the end of last season. According to various reports, the 32-year-old has gathered interest from various Italian clubs. However, the centre back is reported to sub off a move to Italy and join Premier League outfit Manchester United on a free transfer ahead of next season.
The World Cup winner has been instrumental for Bayern Munich and Germany over the last few years and has decided to make a switch leaving the Bundesliga outfit. He is heavily linked with a move to Italy with teams like AC Milan, Roma, Napoli, Juventus, and Lazio rumoured to be in the running for his signature. Despite some serious interest from Serie A clubs, Jerome Boateng is expected to pursue a move to Old Trafford.
However, Manchester United would not be too keen on having the German defender on their books with the Red Devils having a principle agreement with Real Madrid for their star defender Raphael Varane. The Frenchman is set to leave Los Blancos ahead of the upcoming season and partner up with Harry Maguire at the heart of United’s defence.
Ole Gunner Solskjaer could also rely upon the likes of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof to act as back-ups for Maguire and Varane. Boateng’s poor injury record harms his credibility with the central defender also on the wrong side of the ’30s.
With a move to Manchester United looking bleak for Boateng, it remains interesting to see what the future holds for Jerome Boateng. Most of the teams already into their preseason and top leagues just a few weeks away, the German defender will be eager to find a new club for himself.
