Arteta was without Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka who failed the late fitness tests. Bellerin, Holding, and Tierney formed the backline for the Gunners while Partey and Ceballos anchored the midfield.
The visitors, Liverpool had a lengthy list of injuries as Philips and Kabak were the two central defenders, and Robertson and Alexander-Arnold took their positions at full-back.
Neither of the teams could score in the 1st half but Liverpool broke the stalemate in the 64th minute as Diogo Jota made an instant impact. Alexander-Arnold whipped in one of his famous trademark crosses from the right-wing and Jota leaped highest to get to the ball to head it home from 6 yards out.
Leno got a hand to it but could not keep the ball out of the net.
Arsenal vs Liverpool: Liverpool double their lead
It just took Liverpool 4 more minutes to double their lead against Arsenal. Mohamed Salah put his name on the scoresheet again. Fabinho chipped an amazing through ball to Salah who was through on goal. Gabriel was under pressure and was not able to clear the ball.
The Egyptian did not give up and stayed strong in the penalty box before scoring a delightful nutmeg goal under Leno in the 68th minute.
Arsenal vs Liverpool: Jota secures brace
Diogo Jota scored Liverpool’s 3rd and his 2nd goal of the game. It was far too easy for Klopp’s men. Salah found Mane in the box but he was not able to control the ball. Fortunately for him, Jota arrived at the perfect time to smash home from 10 yards out.
Arsenal was nowhere near Liverpool in the 2nd half and faced a 0-3 defeat at home.
