Premier League: Everton defeats Liverpool to win the Merseyside derby

Premier League: Everton defeated Liverpool to win the Merseyside derby in a game where Richarlison and Sigurdson scored to gain all the 3 points.

Everton won their first Merseyside derby at Anfield since 1999 with a 2-1 victory at Anfield.

Everton’s early lead

Doucoure won the ball back in midfield and passes it to Rodriguez. Richarlison timed his run to perfection before blasting past a shot against Alisson to take the lead for Everton in the  3rd minute.

Everton doubles the lead

Richarlison broke on the counter before squaring it to Calvert-Lewin. He shot at goal but saw his effort saved by Alisson. Alexader-Arnold slid in to try to block the effort but brings his down in this attempt in the penalty box.

The referee points to the spot and Sigurdsson steps up to take the penalty. He stutters the penalty beautifully to double the lead for Everton in the 83rd minute.

Liverpool is now 6th in the Premier League. It has 40 points from 25 matches. Whereas, Everton is in the 7th position. It also has the same points with a game in hand.
