Premier League: Liverpool registers record 5th home game defeat in a row, lose to Chelsea 1-0

Premier League – Chelsea beat Liverpool: Liverpool are on a club-record losing streak at home after they were beaten 1-0 by Chelsea on Thursday. Mason Mount’s superb individual strike three minutes before half-time gave the visitors a deserved win and extend their unbeaten run under boss Thomas Tuchel to 10 games.
It moved them into the top four, while Liverpool are now in seventh place and in a serious dogfight for the Champions League places.

Liverpool registers unwanted record: Only defending champions to lose 5th consecutive game at home

The Reds, who won the title last season by 18 points, had gone 68 home league matches unbeaten before their current was started with a loss to Burnley in January.

Liverpool have just 10 points from 11 Premier League games in 2021 – only West Brom (nine), Newcastle (seven) and Southampton (four) have picked up fewer points since the turn of the year.

Chelsea in good form under Tuchel
While Liverpool’s misery continues, Chelsea are on a solid run under new coach Tuchel.
They have taken 18 points from eight matches since the German was appointed as Frank Lampard’s replacement. Manchester City are the only team to have won more points in that time, having collected 24.

Meanwhile, they have conceded only two goals in 10 games in all competitions under Tuchel.

What next for Liverpool and Chelsea?
Liverpool will have the chance to arrest their dismal home form on Sunday when they host relegation-threatened Fulham on Sunday.
