Premier League: Manchester City defeats Everton to stay at the top of the table. The Citizens visited Goodison Park to play their 24th match of the season. They won the game 3-1 away.
Carlo Ancelloti made 4 changes from the side that lost to Fulham in their last match. Pickford, Mina, Keano, and Iwobi come in to start ahead of Olsen, Coleman, Gomes, and Rodriguez.
The City line-up had 3 alterations from their three-goals win against Tottenham. Dias and Walker replaced Stones and Zinchenko, while Mahrez started in place of an injured Ilkay Gundogan.
Man City take the lead
It was Phil Foden who gave the lead to the Citizens in the 32nd minute. Everton failed to clear the ball from the corner and it ricocheted back to Foden. The midfielder took his sweet time to fire a right-footed shot towards the goal from the middle of the box.
The ball was deflected off Coleman into the bottom corner.
Everton equalize
Iwobi slipped the ball to Coleman who lifted a cross into the box from the right side of the area. Unmarked at the far post, Digne fired a first-time shot against the post which was deflected off Richarlison into the back of the net in the 37th minute.
Man City takes the lead again
Bernardo Silva picked up the ball on the edge of the Everton penalty area and held up the play as he waited for the run of Riyad Mahrez. The Portuguese winger deftly teed the ball up for the underlapping Mahrez, who curled a first-time strike into the top-left corner to give City the lead in the 63rd minute.
Manchester City doubled their lead in the 77th minute. It was an excellent link-up play down the right which created the space for Jesus to lay the ball off for Silva.
The winger dummied a first-time shot on the edge of the box to glide past Keane and then lashed a strike in the bottom left corner to win the game for Pep Guardiola’s side.
