Premier League: Michael Ballack’s son Emilio, 18, dies in four-wheeler crash during holiday in Portugal

Premier League: Former Chelsea and Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Ballack suffered a big personal tragedy after his son Emilio breathed his last on Tuesday. As per reports, the 18-year-old was involved in the accident at the family’s residence near Portugal’s capital city of Lisbon. Ballack’s former side and Champions League holders Chelsea offered their condolences to his family by releasing a statement on Twitter.

Chelsea FC, took to Twitter to offer their condolences to Michael Ballack and his family. The Blues posted, “Everybody associated with Chelsea Football Club is shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Emilio Ballack at the terribly young age of 18. All our thoughts are with his father Michael and his family at this sad time.”

Premier League: As per Daily Mail, the incident involving Emilio Ballack happened at around 2 am on Thursday. Police investigating the accident ascertained that the 18-year-old had been riding on an uneven piece of land when the vehicle rolled backwards and fell on top of him. Firefighters rushed to the scene to get Michael Ballack’s son out of the wreck, before medics arrived attempting to revive him. However, the crash proved to be fatal and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Premier League: As per the report, Emilio Ballack’s body has been taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine for a post-mortem. As for Michael Ballack, the former Chelsea superstar is yet to make any official comment. Emilio was the second of Ballack’s three sons and was born in 2002 to his then-girlfriend Simone Lambe. The duo married in 2005 but separated in 2012. His eldest son Louis was born in 2001, and his youngest boy Jordi was born in 2005.
