Premier League: Romelu Lukaku, a summer signing from Inter Milan, took just 15 minutes to score his first goal in his second spell with the Blues, sweeping home Reece James’s inviting delivery from close range.
Reece James doubled Chelsea’s lead on 35 minutes, controlling a pass from fellow Academy graduate Mason Mount before rifling the ball beyond goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Premier League: Arsenal tried to get a foothold with Rob Holding heading wide moments before substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s 63rd-minute shot was saved by Edouard Mendy.
In response, Arsenal occasionally threatened after the break. Edouard Mendy saved from Bukayo Saka and Cesar Azpilicueta brilliantly thwarted Emile Smith Rowe, while Rob Holding missed their best chance with a header from six yards out.

Premier League: In truth, though, a comeback never looked likely as the Blues largely kept Arsenal at arm’s length and with a little more final-third precision Chelsea would have added to the two-goal cushion. our two first-half goals.
