Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Global Prize for Sport Researches has been revived with its new identity as the Saudi Leadership Institute invests to enrich sports education worldwide.
The General Sports Authority (Ministry of Sports in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Chaired by HRH Abdulaziz Bin Turki Alfaisal Alsaud, and the Saudi Leadership Institute lead by Mr. Abdullah Hammad, Director General, will be announcing the revival of the “Prince Faisal Bin Fahad International Prize for Arab Sport Development Researches with its new name and identity – “Prince Faisal Bin Fahad Global Prize for Sport Researches” – in a move that will transform the prize to become a global platform for sport researches.
The prestigious prize is designed to encourage sports experts and researchers to enrich sports education and content in the world, in both Arabic and English. Three winners will be announced in 2020 after winning the prize that will be divided into three main categories, states a Press release.
The prize will be divided into a) A scientific sports researches; b) Scientific sports articles and c) The sport personality of the year.
On reviving the prize under the name of Prince Faisal bin Fahad, ex-IOC member and ex-president of the Saudi Arabian Olympic Committee, the Director-General of the Saudi Leadership Institute Mr Abdullah Hammad expressed his excitement on being able to provide the right platform to sports scientists. “Saudi Arabia has been always a key supporter of the sport movement in general and sports education in particular. The revival of this prestigious prize – that played an important role from 1983– 2011 – is a crucially important step to further support more research efforts to help in developing the sports sector in the Arab world and globally. We are certainly looking forward to welcoming all Global scientists to participate and contribute to this Initiative.”
The leadership institute, leading official sports educational institution, aims to deliver educational, development and training programs for local talents and professionals to achieve regional and global recognition and position Saudi Arabia as a top sports hub worldwide, is building a new strategy that will diversify its programs and expand its service to reach to a wider group of stakeholders within the field of sport education.
All the new initiatives are taking place as the sports sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is seeing phenomenal growth in the past few years. Formula E, Dakar Rally, Italian Super Cup, Handball World Cup, and many other global sporting events have found a home in the Kingdom for years to come. At the same time, Saudi clubs and national teams in different sports, such as the U20 Saudi Football National Team, that recently won the Asian cup in 2019, have been achieving promising results as the kingdom is heavily investing in the sport sector in efforts to position Saudi Arabia as a world-class sports hub to use the power of sports to drive positive changes in the Saudi society.
