PSG sacks Thomas Tuchel, Pochettino favourite to take charge

PSG sacks Thomas Tuchel: Paris Saint-German have sacked manager Thomas Tuchel on the eve of Christmas.

Tuchel was informed that his time in the French capital was over after leading PSG to a 4-0 victory over Strasbourg last night.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss came under huge pressure because PSG sit third in the Ligue 1 table, behind Lyon and Lille.

PSG are just a point behind leaders Lyon, and have lost only four of their 17 games in the league.

Now with Tuchel gone, the big question remains- Who will be next PSG coach?

Former Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino is also being considered as he is desperate to get back into work after a year out.

In 2016 Pochettino said: “I have always said that one day it would be a pleasure to manage a big club like Paris, a dream.

Tuchel’s stint at PSG

PSG appointed Tuchel as head coach in 2018 and tasked him to deliver a maiden Champions League trophy. Tuchel was heavily backed and got as close as the final, where PSG lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich last season.

PSG are currently third in Ligue 1, just a point behind leaders Lyon, and have lost only four of their 17 games in the league.

Former Tottenham boss Maurichio Pochettino is being lined up to take over from Tuchel, who was relieved of his managerial duties on Wednesday.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss had won six trophies with Les Parisiens, including back-to-back Ligue 1 crowns.
