PSL 2019 : Sprite does a Reliance Jio for Pakistan Super League

If Reliance Jio connects the dots between the Indian Premier League teams, aerated water brand Sprite is spreading bubbles across a majority of the teams heading into the Pakistan Super League 2019.

The Reliance Jio’s Dhan Dhana Dhan campaign during the IPL 2018 had created great buzz as it highlighted Jio’s association with all the 8 IPL teams. Taking cue from India’s leading mobile network, world’s leading lemon-lime flavoured soft drink Sprite has spread is presence in the Pakistan Super League 2019.

The Coca-Cola lime and lemon drink brand Sprite is bringing its crisp, thirst-quenching taste to the 4th edition of the Pakistan Super League by partnering with four franchises in the tournament. Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi have all got Sprite to quench their sponsorship thirst.

Pakistan Super League 2019 is scheduled to be played from February 14 to March 17. Eight of the total of 34 matches will be played in Pakistan.

The historic partnerships by Sprite were announced at a Press conference in Karachi. The event was opened with a recitation from the Holy Quran followed by the Coke Studio rendition of the National Anthem. The launch event had presence of galaxy of Pakistan cricket legends including former captains Zaheer Abbas and Wasim Akram along with Abbas Arslan, Marketing Director Coca-Cola Pakistan & Afghanistan.

Through this partnership with the four Pakistan Super League team, Sprite will be reasserting the philosophy of The Coca-Cola Company to support sporting activities and promote youth interests through passion points. Cricket remains perhaps the biggest passion point for all Pakistanis across all segments of the society.

Khan, General Manager of The Coca-Cola Company, Pakistan & Afghanistan Region, stated “The Pakistani identity and the narrative of cultural patriotism and emotional harmony are so deeply embedded within cricket; it seemed a natural fit to unveil this partnership which will go a long way in portraying the soft image of Pakistan”

Like IPL in India, the Pakistan Super League has become the largest platform in fostering cricket talent in Pakistan.  It has materialized dreams of many promising Pakistani cricketers to become cricketing stars and has also elevated the image of Pakistani cricket internationally. Sprite promises to make this year’s PSL even more exciting for the fans through a comprehensive engagement with them, to amplify the experience for fans around the globe.
