PSL 2021: Faf du Plessis ruled out of the Pakistan Super League after suffering a concussion – South Africa talismanic batsman Faf du Plessis has been ruled out of the remaining matches of PSL 2021 after suffering from a concussion during Quetta Gladiators’ match against Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday. The right-hand batsman will return to his home on Wednesday.
Quetta Gladiators and Chennai Super Kings star Faf du Plessis was rushed to the hospital after he collided with teammate Mohammad Hasnain in Abu Dhabi. It was during the 7th over of Zalmi’s innings when David Miller hit a drive off Mohammad Nawaz down the ground. Both du Plessis and Mohammad Hasnain sprinted to save the boundary. While du Plessis dived to stop the boundary, his head hit an on-rushing Mohammad Hasnain awkwardly. du Plessis was seen laying on the ground for a few minutes as physios rushed to check on his condition.
PSL 2021: But the former South Africa captain got on his feet and walked out of the field on his own. However, he did not come to bat due to concussion precautions. Later, he was taken to hospital and was replaced by Saim Ayub as a concussion substitute.
Du Plessis’ wife Imari Visser later posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, urging to get him admitted to a hospital. She posted the image where the Protean was seen with a bad bruise on his neck and he was clutching his head in pain.
PSL 2021: “This is killing me right now. Surely he should be checked in hospital?!??” Faf du Plessis’ wife Imari wrote on her Instagram story.
After keeping him overnight at the hospital, Faf du Plessis was released on Sunday. In a tweet, he thanked the fans and updated them on his health.
“Thank you everyone for all the messages of support. I’m back at the hotel recovering. Have concussion with some memory loss but I will be fine. Hopefully, be back on the field soon. Much love,” he wrote on the micro-blogging site.
PSL 2021: Faf played five games in PSL 2021 in which he scores 76 runs at an average of 19 and a strike rate of 122.58. This is the second time that he is playing PSL as he played for Peshawar Zalmi last season.
