PSL 2021 Final: Shahid Afridi has been helpful despite not being with the squad, says Multan Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan – Pakistan talismanic batsman and Multan Sultans’ skipper Mohammad Rizwan has expressed that Shahid Afridi has been helpful despite not being with the squad. Former Pakistan cricketer Afridi pulled out of phase 2 of the Pakistan Super League due to a lower back injury. Multan Sultans will be playing the final of PSL 2021 against Peshawar Zalmi on Thursday.

“We have missed Shahid Afridi a lot. He is a brave cricketer and a great example for youngsters. He shares his advice before every match. He is still part of our team and has been helpful despite not being with the squad,” said Rizwan while speaking in a virtual press conference on Wednesday.

Earlier, Afridi sent his best wishes for his team Multan Sultans ahead of the PSL 2021 final. The owner of the Multan Sultans’ franchise Ali Tareen tweeted that he missed Afridi and it would have been amazing to see him play the final.

Responding to the tweet Afridi said that he is also missing everyone and sent best wishes for his side. “Yes Ali missing my teammates and really wish to be there in Abu Dhabi! But I’m sure our @MultanSultans would play quality cricket and bring us all immense joy and reasons to celebrate on Thursday,” Afridi tweeted.

Riding on the back of Hazratullah Zazai blistering knock Peshawar Zalmi thrashed Islamabad United by eight wickets in Eliminator 2 to reach the final PSL 2021 while on the other hand, Sohail Tanvir’s three-wicket haul helped Multan Sultans’ beat Islamabad United in the qualifier.

When asked if Multan is preparing differently for Zazai he said, “When you come across a player, you have a plan for him. But you have to look at the whole team as well. If Zazai gets out early, so then there are other experienced players well for example Shoaib Malik, we have to come up with a strategy for every individual. I’m hopeful that we will put in our effort, but the planning that we have cannot be shared as you know. Tomorrow is the final and we will put in our complete effort.”
