PSL 2021: Islamabad United’s Usman Khawaja eyes Australia comeback- Australia opening batsman Usman Khawaja, who is currently out of the Australia lineup, feels that impressive performances in the remainder of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2021) can help him regain his place in the Australia team.

“No matter where you play, your form and performance always help you get back in the national team,” the 34-year-old to Geo TV.

The Pakistan-born Australian player who plays for Islamabad United batsman is keen to play for his PSL franchise.

“Since it is the city where I was born and played my cricket in childhood, I wanted to be part of United. Due to pressing international commitment over the years that was not possible. But now I am here and looking forward to representing the city,” said Khawaja.

He also shared his childhood memories of playing with his brothers and sisters on the streets of Islamabad.

Notably, Australia will play a 5-match T20I series and 3 matches ODI series against West Indies away from home. They are also likely to tour Bangladesh for a T20 series. It will be followed by a 5-match Test series (Ashes) against England in December.

Usman Khwaja, who had last played for Australia in 2019, will be aiming to be in the fray for the upcoming cricket series for Pakistan.

He has played 44 Tests, 40 ODIs and nine T20Is for the Aussies so far. He has amassed over 4,500 runs in international cricket at a healthy average of 40+ (ODI and Tests).
