PUBG Mobile crosses 1 billion downloads since launch, now only behind Subway Surfers, Candy Crush Saga- Gaming app PUBG Mobile has reached a landmark of downloads. As per Tencent, the popular battle royale games has crossed 1 billion downloads outside China. Sensor Tower, an analytics firm says that PUBG Mobile is only behind Kiloo Games’ Subway Surfers and King Digital Entertainment’s Candy Crush Saga.
PUBG Mobile comes with various modes but battle royale is the most popular mode. The mode includes a group of fighters who play until a single player survives the battle.
“PUBG Mobile achieving 1 billion downloads shows that core games, in this case a AAA Battle Royale title based on the PC IP of the same name, can achieve the same scale in the mobile space,” said Daniel Ahmad, an analyst with Niko Partners.
The announcement was made while releasing a report on online games. Tencent claimed that its revenue jumped 29 per cent in the quarter-ending March. Its two hits games PUBG Mobile and Honor of Kings continued to top the rankings in the international sphere.
Tencent said that it aims to generate revenue from games outside China. Recently, it opened Timi Studios, LightSpeed and Quantum Studios in Los Angeles, USA to widen its global presence. The main goal of the company is “creating content with original intellectual property that has global appeal,” reported Reuters.
