They are copying it like Kapil’s Devils. The “reel” team of ’83 is toiling hard to match the “real” champions of ’83. For a movie based on cricket, they are training like the cricketers do. In the backdrop of the snow-clad Dhauladhar Ranges, the cast of Kabir Khan’s directorial venture is training to emulate the style of the members of the 1983 World Cup champion Indian team.

The training is going at a pace faster than Kapil’s Devils would have trained for the third edition of cricket’s World Cup in 1983. To emulate the team’s feat is out of question for these cine stars. But determination to emulate the life and style of the Heroes of 1983 is just unmatchable.

The “Real” stars are themselves training the “reel” stars to ensure the film is as close to the real as it can possibly be.

Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Mohinder Amarnath are all following the training and guiding the actors in person to fit into their roles. Not just their cricketing skills, but how these cricket legends walked and talked has to be perfected for portrayal in the movie.

The training is as intense as any of the World Cup-bound teams would do today.

Ranveer Singh, who plays Kapil Dev in 83, has shared a training video on his social media platforms. “The incredible untold story of India’s greatest victory! 10th April 2020- Good Friday #Relive83 @83thefilm @kabirkhankk,” he states.

A one-minute clip of training and behind the scenes pre-production work shows actors working with the cricketers. The clip is share on the film’s official twitter handle.

“Faith can move mountains and as we celebrate it on this auspicious day, let’s gear up to #Relive83 on next Good Friday, 10th April 2020, when our boys will change the game with their faith!,” reads the caption, also revealing the release date for the film – Good Friday, April 10, 2020.

Apart from Ranveer as Kapil, the film also features Tahir Raj Bhasin as Sunil Gavaskar, Saqib Saleem as Mohinder Amarnath, Ammy Virk as Balwinder Sandhu, Jiiva as Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Sahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani, Chirag Patil as Sandeep Patil, Pankaj Tripathi as PR. Man Singh and Hardy Sandhu as Madan Lal among others.
