Ritu Phogat has made an emphatic transition from wrestling to Mixed Martial Art. The Haryana girl made a winning start with the One Championship’s Age of Dragons event, knocking out her opponent Kim Nam-hee in a little over three minutes.
ONE Championship has confirmed Ritu’s triumphant start on its official twitter handle @ONEChampionship with the caption: “DOMINANT DEBUT. The 25-year-old 2016 Commonwealth Games gold medallist walked into the Beijing arena to the tunes of the AR Rehman song Jay Ho. And, finished the task in three minutes in a clinical manner. After pinning Kim, Ritu didn’t allowed her rival to get up and with a flurry of punches on her head compelled the referee to stop the bout.
Interestingly, Ritu also found a good fan base in China as sports lover there were familiar with the Phogat family due to the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal. The movie had featured the life and journey of Ritu’s father Mahavir Phogat and her two sisters Geeta and Babita.
