Rohit Sharma’s double century in the second ODI against Sri Lanka at Mohali is the most watched sports genre programme for the week on Indian television. The top 5 sports shows’ cumulative viewership for Week 50 on the Broadcast Audience Research Data chart has registered a 244% growth over the previous week – an aggregate 21,351,000 impressions as against 8,728,000.
Four of the top five programmes are the Rohit’s innings-driven second ODI on Star Sports 1 Hindi, the post-innings live show on SS1 Hindi, the second ODI broadcast on DD-1 and the English programming of the match on Star Sports 1. The only other show is the live Hindi programming on SS 1 Hindi in the No. 2 position.
The Rohit knock also helped SS 1 Hindi further consolidate its position as the number one sport channel – registering 208,555,000 impressions for the week against 205,163,000 in Week 49. DD-1 made the most from the innings to break into the top 5 chart at No. 3.
The week 51 is yet again dominated by cricket with India-Sri Lanka limited overs series. Star Sports will be gunning for continued glory on the BARC ratings charts.
