Seagram’s Royal Stag will be the official sponsor for the New Zealand-India One Day International and Test series next year. The Indian liquor brand has agreed to extend its ties with cricket for Team India’s tour of the Trans-Tasman nation.
India is scheduled to play three One Day Internationals and Two Test matches on its six-week tour of New Zealand, which will start with a five-match T20 International series from January 24. The three ODIs are slated for February 5, 8 and 11. The Tests will be played at Wellington from February 21 to 25 and Christchurch from February 29 to March 4.
New Zealand Cricket will have a separate sponsor for the five-match T20 International series.
India will face their first major test after the ICC World Cup 2019 semi-finals exit, going down to the Kiwis, as keen contests are expected in the battle of equals. India and New Zealand are the top two Test teams respectively in the ICC rankings. The two teams also holed second-third and fifth-sixth respective placings in the ODI and T20Is with India placed ahead of the Kiwis in either format.
This will be India’s last Test series before the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup, to be played in Australia from October 18 to November 15 in Australia.
Royal Stag has also been among the official sponsors of the ICC World Cup 2019.
Royal Stag has been sponsoring cricket under its surrogate cricket gear brand ‘Royal Stag Mega Cricket’. Seagram’s earlier this year has roped in Jaspreet Bumrah as one of the Royal Stag brand ambassadors.
