IPL 2021 – RR vs PBKS LIVE Score: Sanju Samson’s brilliant century in vain as Punjab Kings win last-ball thriller – Sanju Samson led from the front with a fine century on his debut as a Rajasthan Royals captain but could take his past the target as Punjab Kings registered a narrow 4-run victory in a last-ball thriller.

In a tough 222-run chase, Rajasthan Royals lost Ben Stokes in the first over as Mohammed Shami gave RR the crucial breakthrough early. Asked to bat, Punjab Kings powered by KL Rahul’s 50-ball 90, Deepak Hooda’s 28-ball 64 and Chris Gayle’s 28-ball 40, posted 221/6 in 20 overs.

Punjab Kings were off to a good start or as it seemed. But Mayank Agarwal was dismissed in the 3rd over after he tried to take on debutant Chetan Sakariya. Then on, Chris Gayle and KL Rahul anchored the innings. However, after bringing up their 67-run partnership, Gayle was dismissed by Riyan Parag.

Then on, Deepak Hooda joined Rahul for a brilliant partnership, taking apart Rajasthan’s bowling. He brought up his half-century off just 20 balls as the duo put up a 105-run partnership. After he was dismissed, Rahul continued his red-hot form, slamming 91 off 50 balls. In the end some fine bowling from Chetan Sakariya in the last over restricted Punjab Kings to 221/6 in 20 overs.

Rajasthan were off to a poor start in the tough chase, losing Ben Stokes and Manan Vohra within 4th over. Sanju Samson soldiered on the responsibilities then on, bring in up a fine century off just 54 balls. While Riyan Parag’s fine hitting and Samson’s stroke full 119 kept RR in the chase. However, as Samson went for a six, was caught out by Deepak Hooda as Punjab managed a 4-run win.
