SA vs PAK 3rd T20: From Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman to Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram, 5 players to watch out – South Africa eased past Pakistan in the 2nd T20 to level the series 1-1 despite the absence of some big guns. With captain Heinrich Klaasen firing with a fantastic 36 off 21 balls after a half-century in the 1st match, South Africa will be confident when they face Babar Azam’s Pakistan at the Centurion on Wednesday.

The absence of star players in the South Africa camp — Quinton de Kock, David Miller, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi — due to IPL 2021 was felt in the 1st T20. But that the Proteas fought back to level the series with an all-round performance, makes the 3rd T20 an evenly poised contest. Hence, there will be players to watch out for when the match begins at 6 PM IST at the SuperSport Park in Centurion on Wednesday. They are Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen and Tabraiz Shamsi.

Babar Azam: The Pakistan captain has been in fine form in the ODIs. In his last 10 innings, irrespective of the format, Azam has scored five fifties and a century. His red-hot form continues even in the T20 format as he began with a half-century in the 1st match in difficult condition. After a loss in the last game, he will be determined to do better and will be the one to watch out for.

Fakhar Zaman: The Pakistani batsman has found his lost form and has been the man for Pakistan to do the job. In the series so far, he has scored 8, 193, 101, 27 against South Africa. After missing the 2nd T20 due to an allergic reaction on his left leg, he will be determined to make a comeback and continue his form. The fact that he was awarded a place in Pakistan’s T20 squad thanks to his form will be on his mind and a motivating factor to do well.

Heinrich Klaasen: South Africa captain Heinrich Klaasen was given the captaincy responsibility after Temba Bavuma was ruled out of the T20I series due to an injury. Since then, Klaasen has led from the front, hitting a half-century in the 1st T20 against Pakistan and followed that up with a 21-ball 36 to help his side win.

Aiden Markram: The all-rounder has been a hit and a miss so far in the series. While he has started well, he has failed to convert those good starts. But in the T20 series, he has been on fire. After a 32-ball 51 in the first match, he followed that up with a 30-ball 54 as he set the stage for a crucial win in the 2nd T20 against Pakistan. He will be the man to watch out for.

Tabraiz Shamsi: World No 1 bowler in T20Is, the South African leg-spinner hasn’t been massively successful in the series so far. But in the T20Is, Pakistan batsmen found it difficult to bat against. With 2/29 and 1/20 in the 1st and 2nd match respectively, he has found his rhythm and a lot will depend on his performance.
