Sachin Tendulkar is batting to promote FIFA Under-17 World Cup, as Baichung Bhutia steps up to promote the sport that has given him an iconic status in the country. Indian sports’ biggest icon Sachin and Bhutia are the prominent sports icons in the Under-17 World Cup official song, that otherwise showcases the cultural diversity of the country.
With almost a month to go for the biggest football competition on Indian soil, FIFA Under-17 World Cup, the official song of the marquee event was launched on Sunday. The song “Kar ke Dikhla De Goal” features Tendulkar and Bhutia along with Indian women’s football team forward Bala Devi.
With all the ingredients to pump the enthusiasm amongst the football fanatics with some peppy beats the video also has shots of previous U-17 events. While Bhutia is showcasing his football skills, the video culminates with Tendulkar’s ‘Namaste’ gesture, asking fans to flock the stadiums.
Written by lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by Bollywood musician Pritam, the song is sung by Sunidhi Chaudhan, Mika Singh, Shaan, Papon and Babul Supriyo, among others. It is set to be aired regularly over the next few weeks to promote the event.
The tournament will be held in six cities, with New Delhi hosting India’s group league matches. Kolkata will catch the final fever. India has been grouped with USA, Ghana and Colombia in group A and will be starting their campaign on the first day itself.
The team is currently under training and will be playing a couple of friendlies in Goa before settling down in the capital.
