SAFF Championship 2021: AIFF announces revised fixture list of Indian football team- All India Football Federation has shared the revised schedule of the Indian football team’s matches in the 2021 SAFF Championship. originally scheduled to be played in Dhaka 2020, the 5 team tournament will now be played in the Maldives from October.

The revised dates have been changed due to the Maldives currently hosting yet another event – with the AFC Cup 2021 Group D matches being played there. With the infrastructure already in place, the hosts will find it easy to organize the tournament.

The upcoming edition of SAFF will see India play the likes of Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Nepal. All the teams will are scheduled to play each other in a single leg round-robin format. At the end of all the matches, the top two teams from the table will qualify for the final which has been reset for October 16.

Igor Stimac’s side will take on Bangladesh a day later than previously scheduled on October 4. The Blue Tigers square off against Sri Lanka on October 7, before clashing with Nepal on October 10. India’s final round-robin match is against the defending champions and hosts Maldives which has now been scheduled for October 13.

Before the start of the SAFF Championship 2021, India will play Nepal for 2 international friendlies on September 2 and 5 as practice ahead of the tournament. AIFF has already set up a preparatory camp consisting of 24 players. However, the Indian squad for SFF will likely have 7 more additions soon with players from ATK Mohun Bagan and Bengaluru set to join the camp once they are done playing in the ongoing AFC Cup.
