Sahara India has extended its sponsorship deal with Hockey India till 2021.
The revised deal will cover the Indian men’s and women’s hockey teams as both the junior and senior levels. The long term deal will help the team in their preparation for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Several important tournaments are coming up for the hockey teams in the next two years. The teams will be put through rigorous training camps ahead of this year’s Asia Cup, World League and the Commonwealth Games for the men and women World Cup in 2018.
Sahara has been associated with Indian hockey for over two decades, which had started in 1995. In addition to supporting the team, several hockey players also received generous grants from the company.
The Indian colts had won the Junior Hockey World Cup held in Lucknow last month for the first time in 15 years. That has raised hopes of better performance for India’s national sport the 2020 Olympics.

“Sahara India Pariwar has been a major supporter of Indian hockey for a long time now and we are very grateful to them for partnering us in our endeavour to bring about the hockey revolution. We thank Sahara India Pariwar for extending their support of Indian Hockey to 2021,” Hockey India President Mariamma Koshy said in her statement.
