The Sports Authority of India has offered coaching jobs to 11 Olympians and three paralympians. The move promises to empower elite sportspersons and young athletes.
This also enables the elite athletes who rose to represent the nation at sports’ grandest competition – Olympics and Paralympics – and opportunity to live they passion while paying back to the nation by preparing the next generation of athletes.
The appointments as the regular staff of SAI will also provide the athlete a financial security. SAI has confirmed the appointments in a Press release.
Speaking about the appointments, Ms. Neelam Kapur, DG SAI, said, “This is our way of acknowledging the contribution made by these sportspersons to the country. We want sportspersons who have represented the country in the most competitive, elite events of the world, to be associated with sports throughout their professional careers and even after they retire. We want to harness their vast experience towards training young, prospective medal winners.”
, high jump gold winner at the 2016 Paralympics, has been offered a Group A post as coach. 11 Olympians and 2 Para Olympians have been offered Group B post as Assistant Coaches. All appointments will come into effect from January 5, 2019.
