Indian Wrestling team squad announced for the 2019 World Military Games

Like Turkey, Russia & USA, India has also fielded some of the big names in their squad for the World Military Games wrestling competitions in Wuhan, China. The 6 members Indian team includes names like former Asian Championship winner Sandeep Tomar in the 57kg category. Beside Sandeep, Manish who represented India at the recently concluded world wrestling championship in Nur-Sultan is part of the Greco-Roman squad.

Schedules released for UWW U23 World Wrestling Championships 2019 in Budapest

The Wrestling competition of the World Military Games is starting from Monday 21st October. The event will have some of the big names of the global wrestling vying for the World Military Games medal. The list includes recently crowned world champion Riza Kayalp from Turkey, Russia has decided to field Gadzhimurad Rashidov (65kg world champion), Natalya Vorobyova (WW 76KG world champion) & Musa Yevloyev (GR 97Kg world champion) in the squad. All three won the world championship gold at the just-concluded UWW Senior World Championship in Kazakhstan. Rashidov became the world champion in the category of 65kg where India’s Bajrang Punia won a bronze medal.

India is fielding athletes only in Men’s Freestyle & Greco-Roman competitions, no women have been included in the Indian squad.

The wrestling competition will run from Monday, October 21 through Thursday, October 24. This is a multi-sport event featuring 31 different sports.
