Serie A: Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus bags Player of the Year, Goal of the Season awards-Juventus and Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Player of the Year award for 2019-20 season. He bagged most votes from Italian Footballers Association. The Serie A striker has also won the Goal of the Season Award for his sensational score against Sampdoria in December 2019.
Ronaldo helped his side win the Seria A title last season.
Speaking to Sports Italia, Ronaldo said, “It was a strange year, a year that no one would have wanted, but on a personal and team level, it was positive, because we won the championship.”
“At the beginning, it was difficult to play in empty stadiums, but our goal was to win the championship and we did it. We missed the Champions League but that’s how football is,” he added.
“Congratulations to Cristiano Ronaldo on being named as Male Player of the Year,” Juventus said in a tweet post.

On his ‘Goal of the Season Award’
“It was my best goal, I’m very sure of it,” Ronaldo said, adding, “I want to thank my team mates, because without them it wouldn’t have been possible to receive this prize.”
“I feel motivated and this must be the case, as otherwise it’s not possible to play at this level when you are 35, 36, 37 or 40.”
Cristiana Girelli won Female Footballer of the Year Award.
Meanwhile, Gian Piero Gasperini of Atlanta won the Coach of the Year title.
“Not only that, but there is a lot of Juve also in the Men’s and Women’s Top 11. As well as Ronaldo, Leonardo Bonucci and Paulo Dybala both appear in the Best XI of last year’s championship,” stated Juventus’ official website.
