Serie A: Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo’s superagent denies Sporting Lisbon return as star’s future in Italy remains uncertain- Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes has expressed that Ronaldo has no plans to come back to the Sporting Lisbon. Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro insisted she would try to bring him back to the Portuguese club.
Ronaldo’s mother Aveiro Mendes told the Portuguese newspaper Record, “I will talk to him to bring him back. Next year he will play in Alvalade [Sporting’s stadium]. Cristiano is very proud of Sporting winning the championship, as he has demonstrated publicly. But at the moment, his career plans do not go through Portugal.”
Sporting won the Portuguese title for the first time since 2002 on Tuesday.
Ronaldo has one year contract left with Juventus and thus he was linked with a departure this summer to Sporting. Ronaldo began his senior career at Sporting. Ronaldo is now 36, but still, there would be still many clubs who would want to sing him.
In this Serie A season, Ronaldo has netted 28 goals with Juventus but his club is likely to miss out on the Champions League next season. They host league champions Inter Milan later on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Ronaldo has become the fastest player in Juventus history to reach 100 goals with the club. Ronaldo reached the mark by scoring just before half-time against Sassuolo in Serie A action on Wednesday, giving his side a two-goal lead heading into the break. The Portugal star has netted 100 goals in 131 games for Juventus and has become the first Juve player to ever do so in less than three seasons.
