Adidas SS18 Parley edition of UltraBOOST & UltraBOOST X shoe that prevents 11 plastic bottles from entering the ocean has been launched in India.
Adidas has globally sold 1 million shoes made out of ocean plastic last year. And today (Wednesday), Adidas revealed the SS18 Parley edition of UltraBoost and UltraBoost X inspired by the shades of the oceans.
Since 2015, Adidas has been collaborating with Parley to help end marine plastic pollution and raise awareness for the cause. Adidas products with Parley Ocean Plastic™ are made from upcycled plastic waste that is intercepted from beaches and coastal communities before it reaches the ocean.
This SS18 season Adidas Running will champion the ULTRABOOST Parley and celebrate how each pair of the performance running silhouette prevents approximately 11 bottles from entering from the oceans, the German shoe brand has stated in a media release.
adidas has been working with Parley to prevent plastic entering our oceans and transform it into performance sportswear. Through the collaborative innovation of Parley Ocean Plastic™, the partnership transforms plastic found on beaches and in coastal communities into high-performance sportswear, spinning the problem into a solution. From threat into thread.
Reusing an average of 11 plastic bottles per pair, the shoe provides high performance with a higher purpose and Energy-return boost™ midsole with primeknit. The custom, one-piece, two-tone knitted upper is made partially using recycled Parley Ocean Plastic™ while the outsole and molded heel counter also uses recycled materials.
