Sony network to broadcast Super Bowl live for third consecutive year

Super Bowl, the biggest of all sports events in the US, will be available on the television screens in India for the third consecutive year.

The Super Bowl, which will see the New England Patriots face-off against the Atlanta Falcons, will be telecast live February 6 at 5 am on Sony Six and Sony Six HD channels.

This year marks the ninth Super Bowl appearance by the New England Patriots, the most by any team, and the second appearance by the Atlanta Falcons, as a franchise. The Falcons will have to play their best for a chance to win their first ever Super Bowl after having lost in their previous appearance in 1999 to the Denver Broncos.

Super Bowl has witnessed a high glamour quotient over the past few years with a whole host of celebrities. Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Mark Wahlberg and rap and hip-hop artists Usher, Da Brat and Ludacris have watched and cheered the game.

This year viewers can look forward to Lady Gaga headlining the half-time Super Bowl show. Singing talents like Beyonce, Bruno Mars, Coldplay and Katy Perry have performed at Super Bowl in the past years.

The Super Bowl is the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL) and this year will be the 51st edition of the anticipated big game. The day the Super Bowl is played is considered as an unofficial American national holiday; it is commonly called ‘Super Bowl Sunday’.

Additionally, the Super Bowl has frequently been the most watched American television broadcast of the year. The one-day event is a festival of commercials and is also a big platform used by Hollywood to launch trailers or teasers of big budget movies.
