Sony Pictures Network has revamped its sports cluster.
Sony, following the Ten Sports acquisition from Zee for a Rs Rs 2,600 Crore deal, has launched a new cluster of sports channels. The ‘God of Cricket’ made the announcement. Sachin Tendulkar will be the brand ambassador for Sony Pictures Sports Network.
Sachin Tendulkar as the Sony Pictures brand ambassador will feature in a series of TVCs. The batting legend talks in the first promotional video about the sports and how it teaches one to dream big. He also highlights Sony’s latest tagline – “Go Beyond.”
The launch event was hosted by another face of cricket, Harsha Bhogle, who is also on Sony’s commentary panel. Rajesh Kaul, president, distribution and sports, made the formal announcement of the launch in the presence of NP Singh, CEO, Sony Pictures.
The Ten Sports bouquet channels, post integration, have been renamed SONY TEN. As insidesport.co reported earlier, Sony did not kill the TEN branding. And the new channels are named as Sony Ten 1, Sony Ten 1 HD, Sony Ten 2, Sony Ten 2 HD, Sony Ten 3 and Sony Ten 3 HD. The revamp also includes the first dedicated Hindi Sports channels- Sony Ten 3 and Sony Ten 3 HD.
Sony on the launch also announced dedicated sports for various network channels. While the existing Sony Six and Sony Six HD will telecast cricket and NBA action, Sony Ten 1 and Sony Ten 1 HD will telecast WWE action and Moto GP; Sony Ten 2 and Sony Ten 2 HD will telecast football action; Sony ESPN and Sony ESPN HD will showcase UFC, tennis and Impact wrestling; whereas Sony Ten Golf HD for all golf action.
The new logos and positioning will be unveiled officially by 2000 hrs on Tuesday, 18 July 2017.
