Cricket Australia has announced a three-year partnership with British-based optician chain Specsavers. The company will be the official eyeware and eye care partner of the Australian cricket governing body, as well as of the women’s and men’s national cricket teams.

Under the terms of the deal, Specsavers’ branding will be worn by Australian domestic cricket umpires at the JLT One-Day Cup limited-overs tournament, the JLT Sheffield Shield domestic first-class competition, and the Women’s National Cricket League (WNCL) from the 2018-19 season. The deal terms will also see all Australian international players and domestic umpires have regular eye tests and eyewear as and when required throughout the season.

Specsavers is the latest addition to Cricket Australia’s growing list of sponsorship roaster. CA now has XXXXGold, Toyota, KFC, Optus, Bupa, Weet-Bix, Gatorade, JLT, Commonwealth Bank, Magellan, Bet365, Asics, Nestle Milo, Qantas, Hardys along with Specsavers in its rich Sponsor’s list.

“We are delighted to welcome such a well-known brand as Specsavers into the Cricket Australia family and are looking forward to working together over the next three years,” said Michael de Costa-Alves, head of commercial sales and partnerships at Cricket Australia. “The Specsavers partnership represents further commercial investment into domestic cricket in Australia and demonstrates the inherent value of an association with cricket.”

“Healthy eyesight is so important, whether playing cricket or watching the game, so that’s why we encourage all players and fans to have an eye test at least once every two years,” added Sara McInnes, marketing director at Specsavers. “With cricket taking place during summer, glare can be a real issue for players. Polarising your sunglasses can combat this and provide superior vision in bright light. Specsavers is ready to offer support to the team so they are in top condition when competing this season.”

Specsavers also has signed a four-year partnership in 2016 with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to sponsor the County Championship.
