SportzConsult is adding sports to corporate portfolios. The 14th edition of Corporate Indoor Games is on a roll. After a successful chapter in Mumbai, the next on the cards is the capital city, Delhi. CIG, the brainchild of SportzConsult is a multi-sport indoor tournament which provides an opportunity for employees to represent their firms and win individual awards and team championships.
Started in 2004, the event has attained great heights over the years. In 2007, it got a mention in the Limca Book of Records for “maximum corporate participation in an event across seven different games and 26 event categories in three major cities”, when it was conducted in Mumbai, Pune and Bangalore.
The tournament has grown in popularity over the years with participation from various organisations providing HR the perfect platform to encourage employee to de-stress, enjoy and network with colleagues as well as employees of other companies.
This year CIG saw over 50 companies and around 800 corporate employees participating in 9 sports. The games are not only encouraging sports to be curriculum part but are also providing opportunity for athletes to come up and share their experiences with the employees. The Chief Guest for this years’ event was Miss Manasi Joshi, an international Para Badminton player who currently stands 3rd in World Rankings and is also training for the upcoming Tokyo 2020 Olympics as well as World Championship.
Presence of such players and their motivating stories proves to be a confidence booster for the corporate employees. Manasi, the epitome of inspiration and perfect role model for youngsters gave a pep talk on facing challenges, adaptability and positive attitude. The audience rose on their feet and gave her a standing ovation.
The Mumbai chapter ended with J P Morgan crowned as the Champion for the year 2017. While TCS and Kotak were awarded first and second runners-up. Senior Executives from SportzConsult along with Manasi Joshi gave away the prizes to the individual winners as well as the team winners in various categories.
Most of the participants echoed the same thought citing the event as a great opportunity to play and thanked SportzConsult for providing it. A few first timers were seemingly super thrilled with the arrangements, facilities and fair conduct of play and were vocal about SportzConsult exceeding the expectations.
Jitendra Joshi, Founder Director of SportzConsult talking at the event took the opportunity to thank all the HR Heads for believing in this initiative and making the event a huge success story over the years.
With sports being considered a medium to stay fit, sporting events are seen as a great way to break the monotony of the mundane day-to-day lives. Thus in recent years, there has been a growing interest in sports and fitness among corporate employees in India.
