IND vs SL 3rd ODI: Shikhar Dhawan & Co’s too many experiments fail as Fernando & Rajapaksa guide Sri Lanka to 3-wicket victory in 3rd ODI- Young leg-spinner Rahul Chahar kept India in the match till the end but too many experiments from Rahul Dravid and Shikhar Dhawan as India lost by 3 wickets. Akila Dananjaya starred with the ball before Avishka Fernando and Bhanuka Rajapaksa led for Sri Lanka to a 3-wicket victory and end the country’s losing streak against India at home.

Despite good performances from Prithvi Shaw, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar, a batting collapse saw India post only 225 runs in the rain-affected match after Shikhar Dhawan won the toss and opted to bat first against Sri Lanka. Akila Dananjaya was the architect of India’s collapse with 3/44.

Sri Lanka beat India: With this win, Sri Lanka opened their account in the series. India won the ODI series 2-1 after failing to secure a win in the dead rubber on Friday. The hosts defeated India by three wickets on the back of some stunning performances. Chasing 225, Sri Lanka got off to a steady start scoring 35 runs in the first five overs. Krishnappa Gowtham claimed his maiden international wicket when he dismissed Minod Bhanuka in the sixth over.

In the last ten overs, Sri Lanka needed just 10 runs but Rahul Chahar struck to give visitors another blow. However, Akila Dananjaya and Ramesh Mendis ensured the hosts get over the line in the 39th over.
