Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh:  40 Sri Lankan cricketers have reportedly been selected to receive the first jab of Russia’s Sputnik V Covid 19 vaccine.

18 players were vaccinated on Sunday (09th May) and the rest are expected to be vaccinated within this week.

All players went through an antigen test prior to the administration of the vaccine. The vaccination program was initially scheduled to be performed prior to the West Indies tour but was postponed.

The 18-member Sri Lanka ODI squad to tour Bangladesh entered into a bio-bubble yesterday (10thMay) at the Taj Samudra Hotel in Colombo and they commenced their practices today (11th May) at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium.

The team is scheduled to depart to Bangladesh on the 16th May where they will play 3 ODIs in Dhaka commencing from 23rd May.

Sri Lanka Cricketers will have a busy schedule ahead this year, with at least three tours confirmed in the coming three months.

The new look limited overs squad led by Kusal Janith Perera are scheduled to fly to Bangladesh this month to play three ODIs, which are part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super league.

SL team will then fly to the UK on the 12th June for a series of 3 T20Is and 3 ODIs. T20Is are to be played first as preparation for the upcoming T20 Cricket World Cup. Following the T20 series, the 3 ODIs to be played against England, which will also be a part of the 50 over World Cup Super League.

Soon after the conclusion of the England tour, the team will return to the country and will remain in the team bubble before taking on team India.

The visiting Indian team, which will not include any Test team players, will play three ODIs and three T20Is against Sri Lanka, where the venues have not yet been finalized.

The 2nd edition of the Lankan Premier League (LPL) is also supposed to be played right after the India tour. The dates for the LPL have not yet been confirmed.
