The man behind the commercial success of Star India’s indigenous sports leagues, Basant Dhawan has now been shifted to strengthen the Entertainment business of the group.
Dhawan’s presence as the National Agency Head will contribute to the growth of the Entertainment Ad Sales business.
The man, who created and spearheaded revenue models for the leagues in badminton, kabaddi, football, hockey among other sports business for Star Sports has been moved to the Entertainment portfolio in an internal arrangement. In his new role, Dhawan will be responsible to leverage relationships with agencies and enhance the Entertainment Ad Sales business.
Dhawan’s contribution in establishing the alternate sports with new revenue models in the last 4 years at Star and his prior experience as a marketing professional across sectors like telecom, auto and media equips him well to head the agency business for the Entertainment division at Star.
A seasoned marketing and ad sales professional, Dhawan has served with distinction in key marketing positions with the leading corporate like Vodafone, Aircel, Worldspace Radio and Bharti.
Before moving in to Star India, he was the General Manager – Media & Digital at Vodafone. Prior to that Dhawan has been instrumental in the Aircel launch in India as the Senior General Manager – Marketing Operations.
