The week 17 (April 21, Saturday, to April 20, Friday) Broadcast Audience Research Council television viewership data shows significant and consistent gains for Star Sports 1 Hindi and Chennai Super Kings matches.
The other top five sports genre channels and programmes have registered a decline in their audiences over the previous week.

Chennai Super Kings’ away games at Bengaluru, won by hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore remains the most watched sports genre programme for the week (16,697,000 impressions). Last week the Chennai Super Kings-Kings XI Punjab tie, the top show for the week, had 15,395,000 impressions.
Even as there is no change in the rankings of the sports genre channels from last week, Star Sports 1 and Star Sports 1 Select HD (IPL English broadcast) have recorded a sharp fall in viewership. Start Sports First and Sony Ten 1 have however have strengthened their respective positions in No. 3 and 4.
All the top five sports genre programmes for the week expectedly happen to be the live broadcast of IPL matches. Chennai Super Kings have been a big hit with the IPL lovers, who have shown the least interest in the two games involving Delhi Daredevils.
Mumbai Indians versus Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur on (14,536,000 impressions) on Sunday has been the second most watched sports show across all channels, followed by SunRisers Hyderabad vs Mumbai in Mumbai on Tuesday (13,594,000 imp) and the two Delhi Daredevils games – against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Bangalore (13,401,000 imp) and versus Kolkata Knight Riders game at Delhi (13,198,000 impressions).
