The Australians will be treated like kids on their forthcoming tour of India. That is the essence of host broadcaster Star Sports’ campaign video for the T20 International and One Day International series.

Australia will be playing two T20Is on February 24 and 27 and five ODIs between March 2 and March 13 on their three-week tour of India.

Star Sports’ tongue-in-cheek campaign features Virender Sehwag welcoming the Aussies, represented by toddlers dressed in replicas of Australian limited overs yellow jersey and diapers. The visitors are presented as the kids who will need some baby-sitting on their tour to India.

“Every baby needs a babysitter – 🇦🇺 and 🇮🇳 would remember this well! 😉 The Aussies are on their way and here’s how@virendersehwag is welcoming ’em! Watch Paytm #INDvAUS Feb 24 onwards LIVE on Star Sports to know who will have the last laugh. #Babysitting,” reads the tweet posted on Star sports official twitter handle @StarSportsIndia

The TVC has an obvious reference to the Tim Paine banter from behind the stumps during the Test series Down Under when the Australian keeper as asked Pant  “Do you babysit? I’ll take my wife to the movies one night and you can babysit.”

The Indians have created history on the tour during the Australian Summer, winning their first ever Test series Down Under in 71 years and also scoring their maiden ODI series triumph in a bilateral series in Australia. The three-match T20 series has ended 1-all as one game was washed out.

The campaign is created for Star Sports by Taproot Dentsu.

“Cricket banter gets a lot of attention in popular media and Paine’s remark has provided grist to our creative mill. The Aussies are good sports and we’ve used their dig against them, to set up a face-off between the two teams. A cheeky personality like Sehwag was an easy choice as the celebrity face for this campaign,” says Taproot Dentsu CCO Santosh Padhi.

“The campaign amplifies the fun banter that all fans look forward to in every India vs Australia series. This series kicks off a ‘summer of cricket’ on Star Sports including the VIVO IPL and the ICC World Cup. We are even more excited this year as we will now telecast this on our dedicated sports channels in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada for our regional viewers apart from our existing English and Hindi feeds,” added Gautam Thakar, CEO, Star Sports.

Cricket fans can enjoy the action in their preferred language with detailed analytical commentary including the use of graphics and augmented reality (AR) on the Select Dugout which will be available on Star Sports Select 1/HD for all the T20Is. The matches will also be streamed live on Star’s OTT platform Hotstar.

Cricket on Star Sports gets bigger and better with India winning an overseas series against the Blackcaps followed by Australia’s tour to India comprising of 2 T20Is & 5 ODIs starting Feb 24th and the VIVO IPL 2019 starting March before the mega event of the year, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 from May 30, 2019
